The Blue & Black Design

This is a design I like so much, blue & black. Does that mean something to you?
surprisingly, It was done in a jiffy.

THE COLOURS & ABBREVIATION CONCEPT

What we have here is an A5 Flyer – Guild of St. Anthony of Padua, FESTAC Deanary. For clarification purpose, an A5 size is 14.8cm x 21cm OR 5.8inches x 8.3inches

If you take a good look at it, you’ll see that it’s kinda technical to understand, there are so many words put together all in this small A5 size. At first, before I started this concept, I was overwhelemed by the stories – there’re just too much!

Now, I have to come up with a perfect idea to reduce and make fit the write-up in the flyer, so, I came up with COLOURS & ABBREVIATION CONCEPT (KEYS/COLOURS). This is not very common in designing flyers, it’s used mainly for maps, magazines and such, but on a flyer, not often.

Look at that, just see how the PARISHES were represented by white; PRAYER DAYS/TIME in light orange, abbreviated as PR; THANKSGIVING DAY in yellow as TH; and we have the PRESIDENT’S MOBILE in orange as PM. All these just makes the work less stressful and easy for me. Also, it’s now understandable for people to read.

There are a total of 11parishes each accompanied with prayers days/time, thanksgiving day and president’s mobile. I wonder what would have happened if I designed the flyer with each parish caring its own variables i.e.

PARISH 1
– PRAYER DAYS/TIME
– THANKSGIVING DAY
– PRESIDENT’S MOBILE

PARISH 2
– PRAYER DAYS/TIME
– THANKSGIVING DAY
– PRESIDENT’S MOBILE

PARISH 3
– PRAYER DAYS/TIME
– THANKSGIVING DAY \
– PRESIDENT’S MOBILE
etc.

I’m very sure that people would not even want to read that flyer.

What a great concept this is!
